Fireplace Doors provided by Steve Gray - Seattle, Washington
When you get fireplace doors from me you are benefitting from over thirty years of intensive experience with fireplaces and their heating appliances. I started by making top quality custom fireplace inserts and woodstoves and had a shop with as many as seventeen emplyees during the busy season. We made truly custom units and some of them were true masterpieces, and they were all designed by me. Even though these were of higher quaiity and burned cleaner than the good factory made wood stoves and inserts, all of the small manufacturers were put out of business by the wood stove emmision law, which was, you guessed it, back by the large wood stove manufacturers. I then started making airtight custom fireplace doors and produced many incredibly beautiful designs. The result of all this experience is that i have a profound knowledge of how and why fireplace doors can heat and am aware of all the problems that it is possible to run into. I can help you determine which is the best system for your situation and help you with suggestions on the different models available and the different styling combinations that they have. I can also install super heat resistant neaceram glass into your doors to make them safer and stronger than any other fireplace doors available.
You are unlikely to find this kind of experience among typical woodstove salesmen, and many of them are reluctant to deal with custom fireplace doors because they are inexperienced with custom work and are worried about making mistakes. also, since I work out of my home I can make house calls right away, while many wood stove sales men do not want to leave their shop for fear of missing a walk in customer buying a fireplace insert for more money than a set of doors sells for, and have been known to make people wait up to three months for an appointment, essentially waiting till the busy season is over before making house calls.
Also, it is rather common for some wood stove dealers, mainly on the East side, to sell fireplace doors at a 20% or greater markup over list price while I typically sell them for last years prices, which is about 10% below current list.
